The ferocity and frequency of street crime is increasing daily, so as the police struggle to cope with this new wave of opportunist criminals we need to think how to avoid being next. Most people are turning to self- defence classes to ensure that if the worst happens, they will be able to protect themselves and their property, and we at Rock Solid Kickboxing are offering all ages the chance to learn one of the fastest and most efficient self-defence systems known to modern martial arts. We teach you all the skills of kickboxing and most of all to become aware of your surroundings, to develop your reflexes and reactions to an attack situation.

THE ABILITY TO DEFEND YOURSELF IS IMPORTANT, BUT IT SHOULD BE A LAST
RESORT IN TERMS OF SELF-DEFENCE!

Self Defence

As instructors we would be wrong to tell you to jump straight in with fists and legs flying all over your aggressor. It is important to be able to fight off an attacker should the need arise, but the best form of self-defence methods are to avoid such situations first and foremost. Assess the threat to you and minimise it

by appropriate non-violent responses, stay calm and do not raise your fists immediately, fold your arms so that they are up and ready to move if attacked. Anything that will help you avoida situation where you have to use your kickboxing skills to defend yourself is important, walk away from confrontation, and find a safer enviroment to be in, do not advertise your personnel belongings and educate your friends to these things too; become a teacher yourself. When all else fails, then the ability to physically defend yourself comes into play. This is when you can open up your locker and use the skills that you have learnt at Rock Solid Kickboxing, but always remember it is better to walk away than confront if possible. A true martial artist would not go out of his or her way to hurt a fellow human being.
